2002 A6 Avant - purchased!
Soothe our nerves, audi-philes.
My wife and I just jumped on a deal to buy a "new" 2002 A6 Avant (i.e. demonstrator model with 6500 miles). It was about $3000 below invoice, ming blue, very nicely equipped. Compliments my 2000 VR6 Jetta well.
We truly like it, but we had only just started test driving SUVs/Wagons (for our dog and upcoming kid), and we were mentally prepared to pay about $5-8K less, and in 4-5 months, not now!
Everyone, now: We made the right decision. We made the right decision. We made the right decision. (Who needs a multi-tronic, front wheel drive? Who needs a high-riding 4runner? Who wants to spend less than 30K on a wagon?)

You don't need us to sooth your nerves, you've driven the car.
You know in the seat of your pants what it feels like. The Audi Avant (IMHO) is the perfect "do everything" vehicle.
What did you get the CVT or the Quattro? Pictures please....

You're right. You're right. I know you're right.
Got the Quattro. As I read in a review, "an Audi w/out Quattro is like Eggs Benedict w/out the hollandaise sauce." That said, CVT sure sounds like a break-through.
I'll post pics soon.
P.S. The dealer friend who alerted me to the demonstrator bargain drives an S6 Avant. Boy howdy does he drive it!

Now if you live in snow country, my reccomendation is get
snow tires. Don't believe all the stuff about quattro in snow. A 2WD car with snows is better thatn a AWD car with 4 seasons. But An AWD car with snows is like a clawed cat on a carpet!
The leaves are turning here (MA) and I'm ready for skiing!

Re: Welcome to the club.
Thanks. Black is kickin'. It was strange to buy our car, b/c it was what it was (i.e. we didn't get to pick anything). I dig the ming blue, though, and I don't think I would have changed a thing otherwise. I guess that's why we got it.
