2003 A6 4.2 Transmission Problem

Sporadically when I am pulling away from a stop sign the engine will rev but there is hardly any acceleration. It usually happens when the car is cold, but not always, and often when turning and accelerating into traffic.
If you really step on it and accelerate hard the car will suddenly take off.
The dealer has looked at it twice and found no codes from the transmission. They recently replaced a brake switch. The explanation was that there is a 0.7 sec delay programmed into the transmission relating to the problems they had years ago with the 5000.
The problem is still happening. Any one with any ideas?
Thanks

Drive like granny, and it will be slow and dull witted. Drive like you mean it, and it will wake up. Constantly changing between programs. Use large throttle openings consistantly for a little bit, and you'll engage sport mode. Just remember than when you are being nice to the car during warm-up, the tranny has a chance to go back into granny mode until you tell it otherwise.

Next time you start from a stop it ought to rev nicely in first instead of that half-assed slow start as if its in 2nd.

from drive to reverse or vice versa, but not when simply accelerating from a stop. That said, there is a "normal" hesitation when accelerating from a stop.
The fact that the engine revs and then the trans catches makes me believe the trans is slipping, that is not normal.
Have the dealer change the trans fluid and the screen (filter). This service is not covered by warranty and should cost around $300. This service most likely should solve your problem

About 8000 but it has been doing this almost from day 1. The dealer says that there is a 0.7 sec delay programmed in so they kee asking if do left foot braking (I don't). I have a tune up scheduled this week and will try again. Will let you know.

Actually this makes sense. It only happens after I been driving slowly such as at startup or if carrying a carload of people. After decades of driving this is bizarre but the explanation makes sense.
Thanks!
Thanks!
