McClean, are there any VW dealers in the Caribbean? They would have the fluid as would your local Audi dealer.

I'm aware of no substitute fluids.

Hello,

Let me begin by saying thanks to all for the input, the replies are a big help to me for sure. One more thing I would like some help with, The situation with my Audi is a bit baffling. First of as I have said I live in the Caribbean( weather is tropical), in the morning when I start the car there is a noise coming from under the hood which is a bit more accented when steering so I am guessing its a steering related noise. After the car was left running for a few minutes I went to have breakfast before work, when I started the car the second time there was not a squeak much less for a whine...no noise at all. The fluid is a little low(that have been confirmed) but if that is the case I am assuming the noise would just continue, am I right to assume that?

Secondly, I have read the pentosin is olive green in color, but the fluid in the car is not olive green at all, now the car is a Japanese Import, built in japan.would it be OK to top up the fluid with pentosin considering the situation?

Time to take it to somebody local who knows Audis or VWs and can identify (by feel and color) which fluid it is. As the pentosin gets dirty, that which was once olive green becomes a green-black.

The noise could be caused by low fluid (which expands as it warms upl... that's why there is an area for expansion in the reservoir) or by a pump that is sucking air (typically happens in the morning... the nickname is "morning sickness" or a number of other things (including secondary air pump.)

Even if your audi was built in japan, it would use pentosin.

I would top up with pentosin.

By now, Amazon would have delivered a can to you.

Hey uberwgn, thanks for the reply, I am not certain of any VW dealers, but I have found an Audi on the French Island of Guadeloupe and there is also a dealer in Trinidad, my brother is living on Trinidad so he is trying to get me the oil ASAP. This is really an issue for me because I could count on one hand the amount of Audi here in the Commonwealth of Dominica

The colour it is now (close to black ) base on what you said it could have been pentosin.

I tried to order it yesterday from amazon, they don't ship pentosin or similar fluids to my country.

just for information on my part, what is your opinion on the products sold on blauparts? they do ship directly to me.

I have purchased fluids many times from Blauparts and they are a forum sponsor. Some of the best pricing around.

Great news, with the fluid from blauparts, could I just add it or do I have to drain the systems? Much respect to this site. You guy may never understand the help you are giving
