I'm on the verge of purchasing a 2004 A6 4.2 with 193,000kms. The transmission has been rebuilt at some point, and shifts well. My question is, do these transmissions give any warning signs of future issues, or do they just suddenly fail with no warning?
Thanks,

If it was rebuilt, one can hope that it was rebuilt with the updated TC seals. This should make it pretty reliable. See if you can find out.. Fortunately, i have no first had experience. I would do a tranny service (open, drain, clean, replace filter, refill per process)
