2004 audi a6 s line 2.7t transmission problem?
once in a while when i start the car and go to put it into gear the entire PRNDS lights up soild red and it bangs into reverse/drive and it drives like there is serious resistance on the engine. it will not shift but it will drive and it feels like its stuck in like 3rd gear or something. you drive it around like that for about 20 min you turn it off and re start it and it like pops out of that mode and drives perfectly normal.. when it goes into this mode, engine light is on, abs and another yellow light with a circle and arrow around it. no idea what this means i just bought the car off a friend for a really good price knowing it has this issue. any info or help would be greatly appreciated

Generally requires a rebuilt transmission. Hope your price included a 4-6K discount....

The PRND is called limp mode which your TCU ""turns on", basically it does this to protect your tranny, and yes it is stuck in 3rd gear, stop driving if you want a rebuild, if you will get another tranny than drive it out until it dies.

Sounds like a good price, dunno how many miles, but an 80K 2.7T quattro in good condition (50%-er) goes for about $12K.
Get the trans fixed and you've got a great car for the money.
