On my '00 2.7T, I use 235/45's on my 17 x 8's..That's the size that "rack" recommended.

Default It is recomended size for 7.5" rim(lets say Avus from S4)

thats what I have on and looks good (not too small on the rim)

Default Rethinking it if you are going from 215/55/16 to 235/45-17 the difference is .1%

225/45/17 would be 1.3%
both acceptable but on 8" rim would be better to go 235 I guess

Default I'm looking at some used rims and tires are already mounted

So I would probably put 235s on when I next have to change rubber, but for the time being, I would live with what is on it. (Rubber is fairly new.)

Default That was actually the stock size for the 2000 2.7T with a 17" wheel...

I think they changed to 235 45 17 in 2002 ( or 2001 middle of model year). You'd be fine with running that size, but when they need replacing, might as well go with 235 45 17. You'll get a hair more protection from the curb.

If not right offset and if you are lowered 235 has a better chance of rubbing...c'mon BD chime in
