I think my car is finally broken in. Just for reference I needed to add between 1/4 and 1/2 q. every 1K to 1500 miles in the beginning and then it began to stretch to 2K miles.
The consumption is now slight enough that adding would risk overfill (just under top mark). I switched to synth at 8K and consumption moved up momentarily and then started decreasing to 15K miles. I am a 80/20 city/highway driver and take the car out a minimum of once per week to open it up on the freeway.
Mileage just approaching 18,000. The car is bone stock (as some of you keep chiding me about) except for wheels and tires. Have not torn the boot yet (at least I think) but after winter #2 I am predicting a failure when OAT's come up in the spring.
BTW, I am using M1 10w-30 tri-synth. Yes, I know, there are a thousand and one opinions on oil viscosity/grade and this is my opinion of the correct one for my operating environment.
This is just meant as a user update.
