4.2 enigine: S6 vs S8, A6 vs A8
this is a WTF question.
why is the A6/S6 getting 20 less hp than when they are in the A8? Is this just marketing to tune down the A6 and make is less powerful than the A8 class?
How do you get that 20hp back?
Is it an intake issue, or electronic issue? or something else more complicated?
(someone please post the correct comparion figures.. i just remember off the top of my head that it's 300 vs 320 and 340 vs 360. what about torque?)

I attended a dealer sponsored tech session in Mendham, NJ, just recently. The dealer's techs told us that it was purely a marketing decision to slightly scale back the output from the S6's powerplant. They did not want it to outshine the A8.

free up the exhaust and modify[free up]the air intake should get you close.the 20 hp loss s due to the restictive exhaust manifolds on the a6/s6 and smaller exhaust pipes and stuffier cats.freeing up the air intake wouldn't hurt
