I picked up a set of 4 sport pkg wheels w/ newish BS Pole Position S-03's (wrong size for my 4.2 though) fairly inexpensively. Unfortunately, they have some curb rash, and the clearcoat is peeling in some places resulting in some corrosion of the aluminum. I did STFA on getting these wheels refinished, and found a couple of posts mentioning the polished finish is tough to match. I did check Wheel Collison Center's website out, and it looks like it may cost $250+ per wheel to have them refinished. Has anyone had these refinished? How did they turn out? Cost per wheel? I did get a decent deal, but if the refinishing is going to be $1000+, I'm going to resell them.

Most wheels just get painted, but these need to be stripped, polished up and clear coated.
I have a little rash and I've thought about calling a local metalworking shop (not automotive) if I ever had them re-done. Is the rash just on the outer lip? If it extends into the wheel spokes, then you need to strip and polish the whole thing.

I would imagine that the mirror-like finish on the 4.2 sport wheel would be expensive to repair.
I would say keep them, look for another set, then assign those for winter use...like Potomac2.7T!

I picked up some used B5 S4 wheels w/ tires for $400. Sold the tires for $100 (near new RE 040s). 3 of the wheels need re-finishing and were bent. One was cracked. $640 to fix everything and make them new from Ye Ole Wheel shop in Eklridge MD. $940 for prefect Avus wheels is a tough call when you can other new ones for not much more.
Then came the tires which are Pilot A/S for another $800. Ouch.. I am now in pain. All of this for a car that seems to be loosing $500 of value each month!

And one spoke has a slight abrasion on it that reached the metal. But there is some clear peeling on the spokes and around the bolt holes. I'd say to have them refinshed properly, the clear would need to be completely stripped, metal repolished/lip repaired, and then re-cleared.

The wheels I picked up are not bent, and have no cracks. But they do have clearcoat peeling, which is really ugly (and not fully disclosed to me when I bought them). WIth these type wheels though, even a simple strip of the clear, repolish and re-clear looks to be ~$250 per wheel.
