Default 4.2 vs 2.8 rear seating. I read here that there is a difference. Why?

And how does it affect the ability to say put a baby seat in the rear center of a 4.2?

Or are we talking about the difference between a Q A6 and a Frontrack?

Thanks!

4.2 has countoured rear buckets AFAIK. 2.7T and 2.8/3.0 don't.

Default Another Oddi specification.

North American 4.2 sedans come with the two-passenger rear seat. For other markets Audi offers two- and three-passenger rear seats for A6 sedans, not to mention Recaro front seats. Sigh...

Default more gas tank under the seat in 4.2

Someone else figured it out (finman?). The hump in the 4.2 seat lets Audi put in a larger gas tank for more range.

There is no shoulder belt in the middle with the 4.2 seat. I don't know how it affects putting in a baby seat.

This whole baby seat in the middle thing befuddles me anyway.

Default Baby seat in middle so that more metal has to crunch to reach said baby.

I can't get a baby seat in my TT and we can't put it in the center of the rear seat in our Lexus RX300, and I am comfortable with how safe my daughter is.

Hee hee, it sounds like I put my baby in the TT with no baby seat. Definitely not.
