I found the 605 Relay, But am having a hard time accessing it. I have been told I need to go under the steering wheel on unscrew the 2 screws, 1 on each side, but they are not normal screws, they look very odd. Can someone expalin what to do? Please with detail or pictures?

the "abnormal" screws can be loosened with a socket wrench. i just loosened those 2 and pulled the cover down to access the 605 relay.

Grab the trim piece directly on top of the steering column and pull straight out firmly. Removal of this panel will expose two hex head screws that can be removed with a small socket set. Then look underneath the steering wheel and you'll find two more screws to remove, but wait- there is yet another screw located in the fuse box on the left side of your dash. With all FIVE screws removed, the lower panel pulls out easily, exposing the famous 605 Relay (may be numbered 392- depending on year). Try to mark it so that you can remember how to put it back in, then yank the sucker straight out.
Replace the dash panels using force with your hands to make them snug before tightening screws, then take your car for a spin. Congratulations! Your Audi now steers like a BMW! :-)

I didn't mention that I was yanking HARD on the lower panel before you located the FIFTH screw in the fusebox. That's why I included the comment to, "Replace the dash panels using force with your hands to make them snug before tightening screws". In your case, it was to re-bend your panel back into shape after my gorilla tactics may have "altered" the shape of it. LOL

It's been awhile since I did this, but I'll give it a whirl anyway. Anybody want to jump in?- have at `er!
First of all, the first panel that you need to pull off is ON TOP of the steering wheel, NOT from "#1". You don't have a picture of this. This should expose two hex headed screws on top of the steering wheel- remove both of them.
Second, it appears that position #8 (and #3?) and #7 are the two lower screws, so remove them as well. Do not yank on #9.
The hex headed fifth screw in your picture BETWEEN #5 and #6, I believe, is the right one.
I hope this helps, but then again, I'm a bimmer-lover, so what do I know!
