87 octane vs 91 octane = Engine Check Light
Question here for you guys about the behavior I'm seeing when I run 87 octane gas for long haul trips. Since we're paying over $3.45 a gallon for 91 octane, I'll use the cheap stuff when I know I'll be blowing through a tank fairly quickly. Once in a while the Engine Check light will come on, but will go back off when I put 91 octane back in.
Has anyone see this behavior before? What is the real reason here? I don't have a diag tool to pull the error code, but was just curious if anyone had any insight.
Thanks.

eh..My 4.2 doesn't mind 89 (which is what I've been using lately.)
I used to use 93 all the time... no check engine lights so far. I'm guessing it's a different story for FI engines though...

Yeah, I did... But, one more mod before new photos... ;)
Got some RS4 replicas off ebay... and I gotta say I'm impressed so far with the quality. Out of the box they had a beautiful finish... and so far so good with durability... have pounded plenty of pot holes...
