Hi! I'm looking to buy a high mileage 1996 Audi A6 that appears to have been kept in prestine conditino. The carpoint.com reports that the 1996 A6 Automatic transmission can be potententially problemati, so I was wondering if any of the you have had any problems with the automatic transmissino on this older model and what type of problems/cost etc.

I can't trust that report really... since I haven't heard a thing about the 1994+ models having any major problems... but there was a major design flaw in the older A6 models, 1992-1993 I think. But the problem was fixed. I have a '94 now that doesn't have any problems. Has 75K miles right now. I'm close to buying another one at about 50K.

BTW how much are you looking to pay for the A6 and how many miles?<p><img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/images/msig.gif">
