98 A6 trunk doesn't lock
Hello A6 masters,
My dad's 98 A6 trunk doesn't lock any more, even with the remotes, the key cylinder is stuck, he can't turn with the key at all. The door locks work, the trunk release button works, yes he uses master keys. What can be the problem?
Thanks,
Louis

If you know the cylinder is stuck, I would start there, though I believe the lock actuator and linkage ought to be able to operate separate of the cylinder (otherwise, under normal conditions, when you hit the lock button, you'd see the trunk lock cylinder move). I've disassembled and reassembled a few VW key cylinders with success, but never an A6 trunk cylinder. Why don't you pull the trunk finisher panel off and stare at the mechanisms and figure out how they work? Then you can figure out if something is seized or if you can get the unit to operate separate of the cylinder.

Thanks Red neck Truck,
He accidentally fixed it, I told him to open the trunk, put the key in the cylinder, turn the key right and left, somehow, it release the kinks somehow, now the trunk can be locked from remotes and keys.
So the problem was the latch and the key connection was kinked somehow while the trunk close, when the trunk opened then the latch could move freely, therefore the key could turn and release the kinked somehow.
Cheers,
Louis
