99% pure Nitrogen used to inflate my tires yesterday. Has anyone tried this?

I use it in bicycle tires for racing. Dramaticly less seepage.

Default Supposedly less corrosive too

But keep in mind the air we breathe (and use to inflate our tires) is 78% nitrogen already so the temperature fluctuation advantage is minimal (some, but not as much as you might think)

Default I fill mine with Nitrous and bleed a bit into the cabin. It doesn't roll any better; but,

it keeps me in good spirits! :0)

Just j/king of course and don't try this at home, kids!

Default Used in aircraft tires. Nitro expands less, and DRYness is crucial.

Moisture can boil and GREATLY expand, and change inflation pressure.

Default I seriously think its a marketing gimick on passenger cars.

The nitrogen differential is not going to make a huge different in heat production, handling/stability, or anything else for that matter. Tire really needs to be subjected to a more dramatic load for you to see any real difference. May help with seepage. Oxidation is really not a problem - are you really driving your car so little that your tires are just sitting around rotting away? At $7.50 a tire, not worth it. Maybe more extensive tests/experiments/trials will be performed and prove this to be one of the single best things you can do for your tires. I'd still stick with spending your money on proper alignment, good tire pressure, rotation and balancing.

Default it's free at costco......

that's their standard fill now. i think with many of the low profile tire/big wheel combos that already have 30-50% less air volume it could be helpful. i really like to keep my tire pressure constant and even with weekly checks 2-5 psi losses are typical in my 35 and 40 series tires. so if using pure nitrogen means more constant pressures, it seems worth it.

sure there is some marketing hyperbola related to heat/handling and so on but when the pressure drops handling does change as does pothole exposure and with 70-90% humidity in some areas, less moisture in the fill is a good thing too.

to those who say air is already <70% nitrogen....i guess you've never done deep diving to appreciate the significance of a few percentage points.

also chimp genes are 98.8% the same as human....would you be willing to give up the 1% that makes the difference?

banana anyone?
