Had the opportunity to open the 2.7 up today. I was following a 330 xi real early this morning and we merged onto a two-lane highway. He hit it and I did too. I stayed right with him up to about 120 125 and then started to pull away a bit. I was wondering if he was just slowing down or if he hit the rev limiter? Mine shut down at 140. I could not believe how well that car rode at over 100 it was amazing.
I was impressed that the big 2.7 could stay right with the smaller 330 xi. We both gave each other the thumbs up.
The highway was a large two-lane highway, straight for miles and not a car in site.

The A6 2.7t is a DREAM above ~90mph. I had a chance to drive ours at 105+ for an extended period (like 350 miles) through the Canadian Rockies this summer. The car is an absolute dream to cruise in. I even have the American spec luxocruiser suspension ![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Cheers!

I had a 2003 330Ci as a third car for about six months last year and I have to say it pulls like a freight train. I now drive an 04 A6 4.2, but I'd have to guess that my 330 would outrun it by a bit in every category (0-60, 0-100, and the quarter mile). That little 3.0 liter motor in the 330 really is a gem.
Remember that the 330Xi is AWD and heavier than the 330Ci, so it's a bit slower in a straight line.
