isn't there something wrong with that??
everytime someone posts about how they sped they emphasize the fact that it was "safe" and on a straightaway with no cars in sight. I don't think anyone here has to prove anything to anyone. Everyone here has their own views on speeding. I don't think we should be obligated to prove that our speeding incidents were "safe," it's our own personal business to take risks. Any high speed is dangerous so there is no "safe" anyway.
Don't get me wrong i love these stories and i do it. It just seems wrong that people have to substantiate their actions by claiming it was "safe" otherwise some **** ******* will get on the person for speeding unsafely. Everyone here has the right act as they see fit and take whatever chances they think are appropriate.

Audi A4 3.0 probably wouldn't keep up with BMW 330i.
Though a 2.7T would most certainly keep up with a 530.
Dont know which is faster between 540 and 4.2.

I believe the 330 and the 530 have the same engine. I would think if a 2.7 can keep pace with a 530 then the 330 which is lighter should have an advantage over the 2.7.

I can say it's a great car, albeit a little stiff suspended in the sport version. I only put about 6k miles on mine before selling it. I loved it, but I just wasn't driving it much compared to my 5 series and I couldn't justify $40k in a car sitting around in the garage.
My 330 was a coupe with sport package and every option except navigation. It was very quick and handled well, though could have stood a strut brace/sway bar I think. The suspension was very stiff and was really harsh on one section of bumpy freeway I drive every day. Interestingly, when I got a 325i with the same sport package as a loaner one day, it seemed to have a better sport suspension (less harsh but just as responsive) so perhaps something was up with my car.
Overall though, I loved the 330 and probably would have been better off selling my 525 and keeping the 330.

I've owned an A4 and a 330, so from experience I can tell you the 330 (unfortunately) will walk away from an A4. This is largely a weight issue. The current numbers show the 330 a full second quicker to 60 than the A4, and it feels it through the butt dyno. A 330 coupe 'feels' really powerful for a V6, and it has a great sound.
Based on the published numbers, if the 2.7T 6 speed really hits 60 in 6 seconds flat, then it should outrun the 330, which I think is 6.3/6.5 depending on source. I would expect a 330 Step to be slightly quicker than than a 2.7 Tip or about a wash. Overall, I'd guess these cars are a dead heat, though my 330 felt faster than my current 4.2, which I understand is comparable to the 2.7 tip.
Since the published 4.2 time is 6.9 seconds, my guess is the 540 is slightly faster given it's not carrying the quattro weight.

forget where that was in the mags.
A 6 speed here ran 14.4 stock at the drags I believe it was Mr. Jim Will and another ran around there, maybe gimp2.7t.
The Tips are for old n slow people like me.

I was in the car. He beat him at every light, all the way up to 100mph. No contest.
It was a Corvette Z06 =) You wouldn't believe the top end in that car. It's not all bottom end grunt, felt like a Honda!
