I've only had the beast for two months and as I was taking some type of acura 3.5 off the line. I guess I was redling 2nd maybe 7200 rpm max but I couldn't notice as I was looking over my sholder as I passed in front. Anyway, I felt the car shut off, just for a brief millasescond right before I slammed it into 3rd. Is there a safety shutoff at a certain rpm on the manuals?

I don't know if there is something like that but I do know that you can hurt your car pretty much by redlining it. I once did a similar redlining and had to change my clutch a week after that...
I guess it wasn't just due to one redlined run but you'll obviously be more likely to experience all the possible mechanic failures when you push it to those limits.

If you miss a shift and engage too low of a gear in the course of downshifting, you can still over-rev the engine.
