A6/2.7T problems_update
It work out well...
Took my car to the dealer...they've performed a system cleaning ( at no cost for me..)..the fuel economy have improved a lot..the car feels much better, lighter now ..
also..they've replaced the cam tensioner seals ( they were leaking oil..hence the random burnt oil smell in the car)...
I've decided to ignore the morning stalling of the engine...and not to allow the car to idle for more than 15-20 sec...
So far, so good..I took a long trip last week ( 200miles..long, for my car..)and the fuel economy was around 26mpg, which was not bad at all.
On a funny side..the AOA technician wrote on the worksheet that: "it is normal to have black smoke(soot) coming out of the exhaust during this time of year (!)" ....the next line was: "performed system cleaning, should also help with the black smoke"

Re: what? did you believe them?
which part are you asking me about?
..it was largely stated in this forum before that the carbon build-up (more obvious for turbo engines)will reduce the fuel economy..and , eventually, the unburned gasoline it will come out the exhaust in a form of black soot...the cleaning....obviously helped w/fuel economy...and there is no longer black smoke coming out of the exhaust
the oil smell is gone...
as far as the technician comment..that was just contradictory...something like...there is no problem BUT, if it would be, this next thing should help...

The stalling is probably one of the following...
Bad O2 sensor
Bad MAF (mass airflow sensor)
Bad temperature sensor
My guess anyway, I use to have some surging issues in the morning and they are gone now that my temp sensor has been replaced.
Did they find any codes? It should be noted on the work order if they did.
BTW - I also just had the same gaskets replaced on my engine - seems to be extremely common at this point.

Re: The stalling is probably one of the following...
...no..no codes..they said that this is typical for 2.7T_2001MY..fact confirmed by some of the forum members...
..i've noticed that if i do no switch immediately to manual mode and i keep the rpm at around 2000 the 'stumbling' goes away ...it is happening only before i reach 2000rpm...and i believe it is a transmission issue, not engine issue

Re: what? did you believe them?
maybe...but not as effective as a good chemical cleaning.
the audi tech also said to use some of the techron system cleaner at every 4-5 fuel tanks ..
