Quite different cars. The 2.7T is significantly lighter and either somewhat faster (factory) or much faster (chipped) than the 4.2. It also offers a 6sp manual.

Could you please point me towards a good starting point to read about these performance-enhancing chips for the 2.7T? Thanks!

Default Chips

You can start at the URL below for the Tech section of AW. Next, I'd suggest you try plugging "chip" into the search function on this, and the S4 forums. This should provide enough reading to keep you busy for awhile. The brands of chips you read about also have websites. You'll probably want to check them too.

As for possible damage to your car, or voiding your warranty, yes, both are possible. But depending on how you go about it, you can reduce the risk of either. The risk of either outcome would be hard to quantify, some consider the risks very slight, others, a bit more so.<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng.html">https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng.html</a</li></ul>

Can't comment on 2.7T vs. 4.2, but I like the S4 better than the 4.2. S 4 is more rigid, handles better, just as fast away from a red light, if not faster.

Yeah I'd say your calculation is missing something. The speeds between ranges X to Y vary- having X as 0 and Y as 60 is not enough information to judge performance.
