Default A6 2.7t Wheels - Will 2005 A6 17x7.5J 45 Offset Fit???

I found a set of these OEM 2005 Audi Wheels, will they fit over the HP2 Calipers? How can I find out before I pick them up?

Thanks, Andrew<ul><li><a href="http://www.wheelsandcaps.com/new_www/w_selection.php?_SUPPLIERSKU=ALY58779U&amp;WandCRE TURN=&amp;_YEAR=2005&amp;_MAKE=AUDI&amp;_MODEL=A6" >http://www.wheelsandcaps.com/new_www/w_selection.php?_SUPPLIERSKU=ALY58779U&amp;WandCRE TURN=&am

You should contact BostonDriver on this. He's the resident expert on rim offsets.

Default Hi-Jack: Speaking of wheels...Ted, how are the new rollers settling in?

And try this offset calculator link...<ul><li><a href="http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html">Wheel offset calculator...</a></li></ul>

Default Maybe, unlikely, wrong offset -- and set further IN

As eveyone knows I'm nto a fan of screwing with offset just to make things fit.

And in this case I doubt it will clear the calipers.

Actually the offset is the same as the original OEM wheels that are 16", +45 for both the 2001 5 spoke and these 2005 9 spoke 17". So how do I know if they will clear the calipers or not? Is there some number to tell you? Or do you just guess?

Can someone ask BostonDriver to chime in? I hear he knows about this stuff.

Ok, I ran the calculator, here is what's going to happen by going from a 16x7 to a 17x7.5, 6mm out, 6mm less clearance. Do I have 6 mm to spare? Less than a quarter of an inch.

Your new wheel will have the following chracteristics:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 6mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 6mm

Default The A6 2.7T 16" wheels are -35mm offset I believe

All offset, by the way, is (minus) mm.

Maybe you are right, but double check.

There is no number and can be no number, because it has a lot to do with the shape of the spokes and how they splay on the inside lip of the wheel - how fast they bend, etc.

You have to fit the wheel and see, or ask someone who has done so.

That sounds a little tight. You may want to consider spacers or different wheels...

A6 2.7t 16" 5-spokes wheels have a 45mm offset (or so it says on mine)
