Hi,

I currently drive an 02 A4 1.8T Q.

I will need to upgrade to something bigger soon, and are looking at the A6.
What engine gives the best overall performance? the A4 1.8T is good, but sometimes you have to wait for the turbo to be ready...does the same thing go for the 2.7T?

Any input is highly appriceated.

litlle or no lag in a 2.7t and a 6 speed......if you want an automatic, just get the 3.0 then

If the 4.2 I want does not materialize soon, I might look towards one of these.

NO, they should get a 2000 A6 2.7T Tip, its the best A6 out there : )))

The 2.7T is the only way to go! I have the Tip but I'd go with the 6M if I had a do-over.

difference is almost night and day. No quartro, but an impresive gain in MPG and the silkiest acceleration you can imagine. Mind you I drive the S6 daily in S or trip mode and I still like the 3.0.

Will probably be looking for Automatic, I am a lazy driver, and have to spend my fair amount of time in LA traffic! Thanks for your response

Drove both (Tiptronic) before buying our 3.0Q. For the driving we do, it wasn't worth the extra money. I decided to bank the marital capital it would have taken to convince the better half. Figure I'll spend it when I get to chose the next car.

This is the first car we've ever owned with an automatic transmission. The auto was one of my wife's must-haves; had it not been so, the 2.7T 6 speed would be in our garage.
