...it was created by A4AdMan in an attempt to have those with the 3.0 summarize their mods so they could use each other as a resource for things like exhaust, suspension,etc. mods. I thought is was a pretty good idea, but of course, there was no mention of build dates (or VIN as in AuditutdeA642's earlier attempts).

I don't really see the harm in trying it, but it is not really going to be very useful unless it is broken down like the A4 list.
The RS6 list was a fun project by daveykid, the real purpose to try and capture as many of the RS6 VINs as possible, regardless of whether or not the owner was an AW or RS6.com member. Folks would send him links to cars.com, autotrader, ebay, etc with VINs that might not have been already captured, and he would record specific information like interior/exterior color, and whether or not there were any modifications (like exhaust, ECU chip, etc) or major issues (like it was totaled or had a blown tranny). He started to track DRC issues as well, but I think the current owners thought this to be dangerous as it may have a negative impact on a specific car's value, and I do not think that was the real purpose of the registry.
