A6 4.2 ...is this a good deal?
I am negotiating with a Porche dealer on a 2001 A6 with basically everything(sports package,etc.). Just under 20,000 miles. He's offering $32,500. Is this a good deal? It only has remaining factory warranty so I'd have to get an extended warranty. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for this potential first time Audi owner.

When I was researching mine, I did a Yahoo search for used 4.2s and came up with a pretty good idea of price ranges. You can also search by Audi Assured. From what you've said, I would say it sounds pretty good. If it is a Porshe dealer, does it not carry Audis? I was able to get an Audi Assured with mine to 100K. You can get aftermarket warrantees. There are posts re that.
Good luck.

That's a pretty good deal if you ask me....
I paid $41k in January for a 4.2 CPO with 12.5k miles on it, and in truly showroom condition - no dings, scratches, stains, nothing at all. I also would have chewed off my left pinky for the Nemo Blue, so it was a 'had to have' color. They were asking $47k to being with.

Sounds good to me, but...
get a separate independent inspection of the suspension system. I'm sitting on a 2000 A64.2Q with extensive front suspension 'issues' after only 49K miles where the dealer, who was the only servicing agency, did not pick up on worn balljoints (which may have to be replaced with the aluminum suspension bars...4 of them per corner!!) and tie rod ends until, surprise surprise the car was inspected for title transfer/buyout after lease end. I trust Audi NA will step up to the plate but in your case I'd say verify.....get my drift?

Good grief-
So worn that a conventional ball joint replacement cannot be undertaken. I don't know which is more shocking, that-or that the ball joints were finished after 49k miles.

I picked up my '00 4.2 last Friday. It has 31k and is loaded as well. I got an exceptional deal from my local MB dealer who was going to wholesale the car. I was able to get it for $25,800. I'd check ebaymotors and traderonline to get a good idea about pricing. Good luck, you'll love the car!
