A6 Door lock repair - failed
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/154975/latch_and_cylinder.jpg"></center><p>
Hi
Having problems with my door lock on my Audi A6 1.9TDI 2001. The lock on driver and passenger side only worked some times, so i decided to remove door panels and take a look at the latch.
I followed this article: https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec96.shtml .Everything went ok on the passenger side. Even fixed the problem with no lights on door open.
The problem started on the driver side. I couldnt get the latch out on this side. Removed the window and everything but the latch was stuck on that little piece entering the latch from the keylock cylinder, see above picture. (There is no keylock on passenger side so no problem there) Of course i twisted it to hard and broke the damn thing. I fixed the latch but now i can not use key to open/close door since that part broke off.
The question is, do i have to replace the hole keylock cylinder(resulting in a new set of keys to my car) or is this part replaceable from a used keylock?
I couldt get the keylock part removed so hard to see it this part is replaceable or not. Can anyone help me? The remote control still works so no big problem, but i would like to have this fixed anyway.
The key cylinder on above picture is not from my car, just added to explain what part broke. So, is this part replaceable or do i have to replace the entire cylinder?
Sorry for my bad english....

Been there done that. It is a separate part. Buy a used lock cylinder or just the piece you need.
Not sure but I think you need to take the entire handle assembly out before removing the door latch. There is a spring metal clip that slides into place that attaches the handle to the door.
The tumbler has another cylindrical piece that slides into it sideways. I think that is the piece you broke & need to replace. It connects the tumbler to the electrical switch in the latch assembly.
EDIT - Weird, your picture took forever to load. Yeah, the part you point out slides off the tumbler.

Where do you come up with all these parts? Do you really have an entire car you're parting out?...
... Or you just have a spare part for every single thing. It never fails to amaze me... post after post, you have it all. Keep it up man.

Thank you all. How to remove door handle and key cylinder then?
Thank you all, will try finding a lock cylinder at a used auto parts store here in Norway.
How do you remove the door handle and lock cylinder btw? Any article on that? Damn hard to see how this is done on my car..

A stamped piece of sheet metal holds the handle in the door.
It has a couple of spring clip features that keep it from sliding front to back. While depressing the clips, use a screwdriver as a lever to slide the piece off of the door handle. There are a couple of tabs located on the door handle that look like they were put there just for this purpose.
This was kind of difficult to do with the door off the car laying on a bench and the window out of the way. There is probably some $100 specialty tool to make it "easier". You will have to be pretty damn good, flexible and/or patient to do it with the window track still in place.
I can post a couple pics of the handle & sheet metal clip when I get home tonight.
