i love my car dearly, but that front bumper is going to be the one thing that drives me to a different car. I get it caught on parking lot blocks constantly, and the other day was the final blow. The thing ripped half off. I think it's going to cost me dearly and the timing is just perfect because i'm ready for my 60k service. Time for a small loan so it seems. Am I the only one frustrated with this design SNAFU? The car is beautiful through and through, yet they make a chin skirt that just begs to get damaged. Either make it one long piece of plastic underneath so it scrapes but doesn't get caught or make it low enough not to clear the thing in the first place... Sorry..just extremely frustrated.

from my research....multirib belt, timing belt & tensioner, water pump, thermostat, air filter, spark plugs and a fuel filter. plus your oil change. partswise it's about $250, don't know on labor. I have a local guy that does good work so I'm taking it to him. there's numerous threads on here that can give you run downs. just look up 60,000 mile service and you'll see them.

I hate to say it, but if this happens to you more than one or two times, you really have to learn how to park!
And yes, I know you have to concentrate on it - my 2.7T was lowered and I managed not to pull the bumper off.

you're talking to a guy that owned jeeps and things high up.... actually i was getting pretty good at the parking, but nature of my job causes me to rush sometimes and it all goes out the window. my guy at the shop says he replaces a ton of them too so I'm not the only one. just the only one that bitches..haha.

I havn't had it happen to me but I saw a man pull the block completely out with his Camry. I was very surprised that his bumper didn't fly off. I see this kind of stuf all the time infront of the store where I work.

Why don't you invent a hinge for the upper edge of the bumper. That way it will just flip up when you back away!

1. Using flat=head screws, screw the back edge under the car into the engine cover above it (watch out at service time, though!).
or
2. Cut the lip that hangs down off of the underside. Less to get caught.
If you get it replaced, see if you can get a European bumper. Much less bulbous, more graceful looking. Here's a pic:
