When I tried to do my diff, a few posts below this, I discovered the fuel filter is right out in the open and easy to get to. I have a new Bosch, but it did not include crush washers. Does anyone here know what size I should get? It is the type of filter that has threaded fittings, requires two wrenches at each end. And its under pressure, can I just slowly bleed off the pressure when cracking loose a banjo bolt? Any restart tips with no gas line pressure?

using the old ones if they are not crushed paper thin which is doubtful as they are pretty thick to start with. I'll probably catch hell for that one. Yes bleed off the pressure slowly to avoid getting sprayed in the eye, it will take all of 2 seconds to bleed off. Then work fast to get the new one on because fuel will be leaking the whole time. As far as restart, its just crank 30 seconds wait a few minutes to let the starter cool off and crank again. Chances are it will start within the first 30. Hey didnt you know the filter is lifetime per Audi maintenance schedule?? Crazy eh?

Nothing is lifetime with vehicles. Unless the "lifetime" is just enough time to pay it off and then have to get a new car.
