A6 Interior Lights/Seat Memory Problem

The interior lights no longer come on in my 2002 A6 Quattro Avant when I open the driver's door or the rear hatch. They do come on when any other door is opened. Also, the driver's seat memory no longer moves to the stored position when the key remote is used to unlock the car. Also, the seat does not move to the stored position when the memory button is briefly pushed, but will go to the stored position if the memory button is held down.
Any ideas where to look to resolve this problem?

they sound independent.
On the lights my first thought is the door switch. but apparently you had two door switches go simultaneously, which makes me wonder if something else is common. nonetheless, i'd try the switch first.
