A6 knifed - fixed!
I thought I'd let folks know about my A6 after the knifing incident. For those who didn't read about it, my A6 was knifed (scratched) on the right rear door 10 days after I took delivery.
When I took it in for appraisal, a few things became clear. Given the incident, I was lucky that the scratch was only on one door. And I was also lucky that the scratch did not cover the door handle. Also, since I chose the regular black over the metallic, the paint was gonna match much easier (wow, didn't think about that when making my choice!)
The body shop (Don McGill's here in Houston) repainted it and did a fabulous job. It took 5 days and $360. It looks great and matches exactly. Everybody told me black was hard to match (contrary to my thinking) but they did a great job.
Of the $360, $300 was labor and $60 was paint. They mentioned the possiblity of having to replace the rubber door guard, but it turned out not to be necessary. If the door handle had been scratched, that would have been an additional couple of hours of labor to take it out and paint it seperately.
I was gonna take before and after pictures but decided against it - I just want to put this behind me...

Re: A6 in Houston. Experiences?
I'm planning to buy an A6 in June and wondering which A6 to buy -- 2.8 or 2.7.T -- and which dealer, Momentum or McGill, is the better one.
Candid comments and suggestions will be most appreciated!

I liked McGill, others have liked Momentum, some have liked neither
But the consensus is to take it to McGill for service (first rate department there + free Audi loaners). If you go to McGill, you might want to ask for my 2-time salesman, Joe Knapp (tell him Lance Pace referred you).
As far as which car to buy, if you can afford the 2.7T (it's only about $4k more than a 2.8), then it's almost a no-brainer. The extra power of that engine doesn't even compare to that put out by the 2.8.

Dealership vs my salesman...
I like the Don McGill dealership, but my salesman was kinda weak. His name was Jerry Risuto. He was a nice guy but had just moved down from the NE selling Honda's or something and didn't have all the Audi knowledge. He knew the basics but that was it. Since I had been reading all the stuff on the net I definately knew more than him.
