Default A6 with possible cat problems

Hey everyone, this is my first post around here and i was just lookin for a little help.
I have a 2002 a6 and my CEL has been off and on for a couple months now. I hooked it up to my VAG-COM and the only possible codes I am reading that I could believe to cause it are these:

2 Faults Found:
16805 - Warm Up Catalyst; Bank 1
P0421 - 35-00 - Efficiency Below Threshold
16815 - Warm Up Catalyst; Bank 2
P0431 - 35-10 - Efficiency Below Threshold - Intermittent

I figure it was a o2 sensor but was wondering if anyone around here had any insight on pinpointing which ones are bad and if it could be anything other than the o2 sensors.

All help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Both cats are going bad and most shops will replace the O2 sensors also if its a 3.0L engine. They are a PITA to get to.

Default If you have vag-com

You can find the source of problem in the engine module section, because my brain is dam near fried now doing taxes and this I can send this little pdf to help you unlock the marvels of vag-com, take your time to understand it because it's a hell of alot cheaper to be sure than throw good money at a wrong diagosis.

It's the 2.7t, and honestly at over 145,000 mi i feel lucky that this is my only problem.
But it hasn't been running any worse which is why i wasn't suspecting the cats to be the problem. If you could elaborate more on that?

Put a can of CRC G2P in the full tank of gas to see if it works.

If not, $100 for 2x O2 Simulator, mini cat

Most think Audi spec is too narrow to throw the CEL. Both cat go wrong at same time is not that usual. What you need to get the light off.

I'd agree with bigdadi - I understand there was an ECU update from Audi at one time to fix this issue, they loosened the threshold for this error since it was costing them a lot to replace cats under the emmisions warranty when they were just wearing out a little. One of these days I'll get a pair of his extenders and solve this - mine throws this every once in a while on bank 2 when I really get my foot in it - I just clear it and go on down the road...
