I am thinking about buying a 2.7 A6, I have seen and read in places that the c5 A6 2.7 and the B5 S4 2.7 have almost the same parts, and mechanics. Obviously the S4 is less restricted and has more power, but for the most part ive heard they are the same. Once I get the 2.7 Im most likely going to to tune it with a lot of performance mods, I was just wondering If a B5 2.7 S4 performance exhaust will work on a C5 2.7 A6, and if not what would you guys recomend when it comes loud exhaust systems for the 2.7 A6.

There are some significant differences between the 2.7 A6 and B5S4 2.7.
2.7Biturbo-SelfStudy.pdf is instructive. I tried to upload 3.4MB but in spite of the 9.77MB limit it wouldn't load.
It is available online, just google the file.

I recommend two of those red-painted cherry bombs from Autozone, and a huge aluminum wing.
Paint your brake calipers red too, it'll make the car look louder.
Oh, and you'll need a boost gauge, too.

Same motor.
Same power rating: 250 hp/258 lb. ft.
Different intake and exhaust plumbing specific to the 2 chassis.
If you want it really loud, just remove the cats and resonators. It'll be LOUD. (not a pretty sound, but LOUD!)

i cant stand to see you kids hack up these cars "tuning" them and then a year or two later they end up at the wrecker with pristine body or interior and a blown up motor

Ok let me clear some things up, I obviously didnt choose the right word when I said loud, what I meant was a good, nice sounding exhuast. My niehbor owns an 2.7t A6 and it runs stock, and when he drives it the turbos are louder than the exhaust, I want my exhuast to be a bit louder than the turbos or at least close. I want to stay away from stright pipes becuase I dont want to have to deal with police/inspection for no mufflers or cats, and its not good for the engine. Lastly I am by no means a Ricer, I understand the maintnence that must go into car like these, and I know its do's and dont's while driving, I will mod it a bit but no stickers, spoilers, cardboard body kits, just simple things.
