ive got a 2.7T and i want that door trim. what is the easiest and cheapest way to get it??? ive seen different kinds, the current Allroad has Chrome trim, the older Allroad has flat black/grey looking trim, and the A6 4.2 has body colored trim. are all 3 kinds compatible? does the chrome trim for the newest Allroad come chrome like that or is that a painted peice? what are the prices on this stuff? is the Chrome Allroad trim more than the grey trim from the older Allroad? what about the A64.2, is that trim simply the same trim but painted? or is it a different part?

and interchangeable between models. I think that the Allroad parts retail for around $600, while the S6 trim (which is matte black) retails for around $200. Not sure the price on 4.2 trim. Your best bet there is to find someone with an A6 4.2 that is upgrading their trim to the RS6 lower trim. Keep an eye out in the classifieds.
I am putting on a set of Allroad door trim, which I think looks pretty good with the silver car.
Stoney's links has a few posts about door trim (S6 and Allroad) under misc mods:

http://www.netwiz.net/~jds/files/a6_links.html#misc</a

It is not chrome, it is brushed Aluminum, (and it is fragile). Lists for around $600 from the dealer. Fits all model A6 sedan or avant. (and to all n00bs on this forum, that is a totally different car then whats in my sig, wheels and all).

I picked up a set from Bdogg4.2 for $150.. not bad. I believe user Trichard with the S6 is converting to the RS6 side skirt.. ask him if he wants to part with his.. carbonLORD has been on the look out for the same conversion so you might want to ask him as well. If not.. clairparts.com is your best bet.

Easiest to buy 4.2 trim in a prepainted color.
No such thing for my Volcano black avant, so I bought S6 trim and paid $120 to have it painted.

I got all the pieces in the mid $400 range which was a great price. Give them a call and ask for Chris. I prefer them more than the 4.2 trim. The only thing is that it doesn't look as good on a silver car. People often comment on how the color of them is off. They would stand out more on a dark colored car. Just my opinion.

and I will install over the weekend and post pics later. FYI - bought them off AW classifieds for $375, not a bad deal. 4.2 or S6 trim will still be less expensive.
The S4 wheels that I have are OEMs from the Hartman Motorsports Project RS4+ car, got the whole set (including the full spare) for about $1000 complete with tires. They are nearly flawless. Keep your eyes out for ones for sale, several listed in the classifieds right now (I have two for sale right now), just make sure they are not too blemished (get photos). I originally wanted the 9-spoke RS4/RS6 wheels, but they were much more expensive.
