...cannot be a good day when you're pulling chunks of asphalt out of your baby.
Before you go and spend a lot of money fixing it, I'd suggest you take a look at other A6 front bumpers. Mine doesn't look a whole lot better but you can only see it when you're on the ground. I don't think a curb was the culprit in my case; I think the bumper is just low enough to scrape when driving hard enough on uneven roads (I know I've heard <i>something</i> touch ground when going over some bad dips).
It may be the case that the scrapes you're seeing are part and parcel of A6 ownership. The more serious tear I see in the pics appears to be on that part of the bumper that sticks WAY down. This is the part that other people (on AW) have recommended screwing to the belly pan so that it does not hook low-lying curbs (or -- in your case -- stray asphalt).
I know you run a pristine ride, but this may be one part of it that you might want to consider letting stay messy (kind of like letting your son's knees get dirty so he can play with the other kids).
