Default About to flip the switch on a Toy Guy short shifter. Any feedback?

Despite the elusive reputation Craig may have, he responded to my email very quickly and has been great about answering questions. He's even going to include installation in the price ($150). The fact that I live in MA and am going to meet him near where he lives probably helps.

Before I do this, I'd thought I'd do a last minute query to see if anybody has feedback on this mod.

I'm fine with the height of the current shifter and will be retaining that with this mod. What I'd like to achieve is a reduction in the slop/play and distance traveled by the shifter. Having things get smoother and more positive engagement of reverse (advertised benefits) would also be great.

Thanks in advance for any input.

BTW... I did STFA and read a bunch of posts. I'm posting a new query given how old most of those posts were. Looking for newer/long term impressions.

Default Look into the one by VAST. Although your arrangement sounds like a good way to go.

Default My understanding is that they're very similar...

With the vast mod technique actually being modeled after the Toy Guy design. While the VAST is cheaper, Toy Guy is very local to me and is doing the install as part of the price. I think the value of the install and having the manufacturer be local (for any after-install troubleshooting) offsets any price difference.

I'd agree, post on your impressions after the install.

Default Will do. So far, Craig has been GREAT to work with.

He's going to set me up with an adjustable height shifter. Will come set for stock height (~30% throw reduction), but can be lowered for even greater throw reduction.

$150, installed by the man himself. The non-adjustable one (stock height, ~30%) goes for $110. Both prices assume trade in of old shifter (add $40 if you don't want to do that).

He did indicate that he's got a few of the modified shifters lying around, so if other people are interested, they should drop him a line. URL below provides details and his contact info.

Toy Guy Design
