I've been reading old posts from the different forums here and think I need to replace my compressor clutch bearing. But... I'm not clear- can this clutch be removed without removing compressor(I'll have the front open to replace T- belt)? Does anyone know the bearing # necessary for a 99 A6 so I can have it ready?
And while I'm in there... what is the likely oil leak in the A6 that drips oil on exhaust? And how hard to fix?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

I do them with every timing belt now.
It looks like you will need to buy the whole clutch.

but I would verify with someone else before you buy it. I'd also look into buying a used compressor and just swapping the clutch.
I don't see why this couldn't be done without pulling the compressor - I've done it in the C4.

Thanks for the input 4Driver4. I have not yet gotten the definitive answer, but it does look like I have to replace whole clutch. Pricey! Where do you go for your various Audi parts?
