Default adapt key fob buttons in VCDS?

I guess as much programming and such as I have been doing with this car I should know this, but I don't.

IMMO aside....I know you can program the keyfob buttons with the original in the ignition, the other in the door, etc. I have a hard time getting that to take. Is there a procedure in VCDS that will adapt the keyfob buttons to lock/unlock and trunk lid open?

I dont think so.

Try key in the ignition ON

Close the door. Lock the door with the second key and hold in the lock position. Press the lock button on theremote then unlock. Release the key. Unlock with the key. Done

It worked but the car will only allow one key at a time to be programmed. If I swap the keys, then the key I just programmed won't work anymore.

Default This worked for me

1. Go to module 35.
2. Go to 10 (adaptation).
3. Enter 00.
4. Then enter 21.
5. Click read.
6. Enter 1.
7. Click test. Should show 1.
8. After hitting test, you have 15sec to hold the unlock button for two seconds. Should show key learned.
9. Hit save. You are programmed.

To do the next one(s) go back to 6, enter the next number (2 for the second remote) then continue to step 9 again.

This has worked every time for me. The only things that ever change are some cars have module 46 for locking, and some cars use channel 01 in step 4.

You should use the service key in the ignition while you reprogram the 2 keys with the remotes.

That makes sense, but it's not possible in my situation. I have a unique scenario. I only received one key with the car. In order to drive the car again I had to disable immo (this was because APR destroyed my ecu).

As I was planning to drive my new (new to me) car, I purchased another remote fob key and had it cut. It was never programmed to my original immo (thus it still sets the little car with the key in the cluster when I use that key). I did purchase a service key but it has not been programmed yet or cut.

I have a second ecu (completely stock with the immo from another car on it), that I will have the audi dealer program for me and they said they would do my keys at the same time. Supposedly they will do this for $138. Now that the car is mobile again I can drive to the dealer, swap ecu's for them, and let them program away (since they are the only ones with access to the immo key - ridiculous).

Worked like a charm with jcman's procedure. Finall have immo disabled and three working keys with remote function!! Only almost a year later.

Got fed up with the stupid immo light blinking at me so I pulled the cluster and put black electrical tape on the back side of the face of the gauges. That worked like a charm as well. With any luck the immo light will burn out with time. I was actually thinking about smashing the led with something (it's down in a little hole) but decided against because I didn't want to make any other problems for myself.

Yep, you don't want to do that because shorts are only good if your investing or it's summer. LOL!
