Do you have pics of your 4.2 wheel with tiptronic buttons for comparison?

Default Sent via UPS, packed in a large box with lots of bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, and...

fully disclosed on the packing that it contained an airbag. I sent it via ground, not the fastest, but I think it would be illegal to ship via air freight because of the hazardous nature of the airbag explosives.

Default Yes, but this is an older picture...

...taken before I changed the dome light and sunroof controls and the carbon fiber trim, etc. etc. This taken just after the alcantara installation.

Sorry, the only pic I have of the wheel...

Default Thanks, BD.

UPS considers airbags "hazerdous materials" given that they're explosive devices, and their policy is not to ship them unless you have a contract to ship hazmat. Likewise, just because the shipping method is ground, there's always a chance it can go airborne. There's no way they should have shipped that thing if it was labeled as an airbag. Glad they're not working airport security!!

I guess I'm too worried that by some off chance the thing could explode and hurt someone, or even worse, explode while on a plane. I know the chances are probably one in a million, but I'm too chicken. I'm probably just being paranoid.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I wonder why they were not all made like that?

Default Audi took it away in 2003 (except for the S6 Avant)...

Very nice feature. I like the buttons, especially with the tiptronic "on-demand" which works just like the RS6 tranny. I never ahve to touch the shift lever to go into tip mode with the steering wheel.

My 01 4.2 doesn't have it. Of course it didn't have the sports pkg either, so maybe that is why?

Default Oh, sorry...clarification, it was only offered in the 2002 A6...

..and even then, only the 2.7T, the 4.2, and the S6 Avant, not on the 3.0 (although the B6 A4 had those controls). Audi promptly removed that feature from the A6 lineup away in 2003, but left it in the S6 Avant.
