Air intake flow.....I want more......

Looking at the air intake on my 4.2, it looks like the air flow would be turbulent. First there are supports where the air first enters, by the hood, that are angled about 60 degrees. Then there are fins or plastic channels inside the intake right before the filter.
I have a Raptor 660 quad and when I removed these wierd angles and channels inside it airbox, WOW! It was an immediate increase in horsepower because the air was clean and undisturbed going in.
I would think the Audi would be the same way if I could do a dyno test. Engines want direct air with no turbulence!
What's everyone's opinion? I already removed the 60 degree angles and trying to decide on the fins or slots in the airbox before the filter.
Thanks for all the help!

Certainly looking at the path, removing obstructions and bends can and does help.... by itself it may or may not help. Like on your Quad, if the only point of restriction was the intake it probably made a big difference. However that same mod on another engine may not net the same results if there are other points of restriction (like the exhaust system) For all the effort to try and out engineer what Audi has done you probably wouldn't net much power that would translate to ...... wow I can feel the diff... probably could measure on dyno but so what... Sorry if I am being a downer, but tiny gains seem a waste of time. If you want to go fast, go forced air... turbo or super. One mans opinion.
