I know, I know, we've been through this before, use the search function. Skip it, I've been there.

I checked the aux fan for some type of blockage, but the fan is moving freely. The siren sound just appears as the fan gets up to speed.

Prognosis? I'm thinking an aux fan motor on it's last legs. Anyone have a clue how much it'll cost to replace and is it a DIY job? I guess I'm looking for a BTDT reply

It will make the noise untill the fan dies. Be careful if you live somewhere warm, the car uses that fan too to cool down. If your fan dies on you your car will run hotter than normal.

Fan $270 (dealer)
Fan $160 (online)

Dealer labor $425 (not including the fan)

I have been told that you can fix it yourself with new bearings for next to nothing.

I have yet to try it I will when I get back from my trip.

You just sparked a memory... I recall that post about the $2 bearings. I'll have to go back to my search parameters. Thanks!
