Re: I would double check the wiring to the passenger seat, it could be if a.....
right the update is that I stripped the centre console down to the airbag control module, the socket is outputing 12v and there is a ground connection. This is starting to indicate that the airbag module is faulty.
I need someway of testing the airbag light and the K line connection? any ideas?

Are you sure there are no connections which have become dis-connected? There....
is one under the rear seat on mine which if not connected triggers the light. Why it is there I do not know because I do not have rear air-bags.
