Default Alarm goes off but doesn't sound? Problem or normal?

As is says, my alarm goes off just fine in the sense that the alarm light starts flashing rapidly but the alarm sound (second horn in the back) doesn't start beeping in that goose-honking sound that its supposed to make.

It sounds just fine when I press the lock button and when I press the panic button.

Soooooo...is this a problem or common? If it is a problem does anyone know how to troubleshoot it? I scanned it with vag-com but the only things I can do are recode it or change the sensitivity. Neither makes the alarm actually sound. The light simply flashes rapidly.

Mine only does that after it's been going off for awhile.

Default Do you guys stateside get a different alarm ?

I've never seen a panic button on my keyfob remote, and I've never heard the alarm make a
noise when I arm or disarm it (when I lock/unlock the doors with the remote). If it
did make a noise when I locked/unlocked the doors, then I'd be straight down to the Audi
dealership to get them to make it not do that. Actually, now I'm thinking about it, I've never
heard any car in Germany make a noise when someone locks the doors (and arms the alarm),
so maybe it is different here.

Default Our cars do make a noise. I'm glad they do, since it's an extra reassurance that the

alarm has been armed. And yes, we do have a panic button on our fobs that activates the alarm/horn.

Default So many little differences :-)

I prefer to see the indicators blink and hear the doors locking though. The (not) sounding of the horn I guess is probably related to the German laws of not annoying your neighbors.

There is a way to disable the honk when you lock the doors. You'd have to do a search for the codes

This way I can arm it while I'm walking away. And the horn is very quiet.

Default Same here but some early OEM alarms did make a short bleep from the sounder....

as they were locked - Ford and GM mainly AFAIR.

Default Yah-the horn is really quiet like a duck quacking-my co workers called it as the -->>>

AFLACK TV AD. For me-it really make the car so cheap so I MOD mine and remove the duck and replaced it with a louder dbs.
