Default Bought them from a 98 S8 from the UK, had them shipped over

Ended up they were grey, not ecru.....original seat:

I had them dyed ecru and put new inserts in them, and I did the doors myself with the extra material (did the front door panels too, but the pictures don't show it).

Default To the door panels? I had a guy remove the seat inserts and put new ones in

I would have to find the thread for the doors....but essentially I took the panel off, made a paper template of the insert, cut the alcantara about 1/4" bigger all the way around, put on contact adhesive.....then put the panel down and tucked it in all the way around with a plastic spatula....then cut the hole for the door handle and put it back on.

Default Re: Alcantara distributor

You guys will most likely cr*p when you hear this, but here goes.

Alcantara is nothing but a trade name that is used by the manufacturer for material they sell the european auto industry.

The same material is called Ultrasuede in the US, and is primarily used in the furniture industry.

The material is all designed, developed and maufactured by Toray in Japan. The material was developed for the athletic footwear industry in conjunction with Nike back in the '90s.

It costs no more than $30 a meter, with some styles in the low $20s. How's that for profit margin. I do have two contacts at Toray if you'd like me to get you some. How much are you looking for and in what color?
