NO....not the manual fluid. Manual fluid is good for 120-150k miles.

Default Depending how you drive, synchro material can become suspended in the fluid.

I change out Redline brand fluid every two years or 25K. It comes out rather grungy looking. Of course I have LSD clutches in the transaxle, so that contributes to the frequent changes. Can't hurt though.

Default Okay, I'll agree to 75K, but why strech it?

Your manual gear box doesn't need the same fluid in it for the 5 or 6 years it takes to hit 150K, and if you're gonna sell it before that....why not do it and enjoy the results? It will definitely shift smoother after a change out.

Default Because I've gone 200k+ miles on an 01A...

...which is a weaker tranny than the 01E many have here. At 200k+ miles the car was on orignal fluid and clutch.

My current daily driver, also an 01A, is at 192k+ miles on orignal clutch and tranny fluid. This one needs to be changed. When it -9F out the tranny gets really notchy, hard to shift until it warms up. I'll change it this spring when I swap engines. This car has also been tracked pretty heavily and it's just now starting to give signs that it needs fluid. If one pays attention the car will let you know.

Make sure one uses GL-4 or you can kiss your tranny goodbye. Some people have had good luck with Redline MT90, that's what I'm switching to.

120k miles is pretty conservative, unless the car is only tracked.
