Default What you saw was an Area 51 car.....

There is a secret wharehouse in Tampa that goes by the name of Area 51 that does hot weather testing on new/upcoming VW/Audi models. TTs, Beetles, A3s, Golfs and other models were spotted running around Tampa long before production. I've tried all my AoA sources to get an address of this place, but no one knows where it is exactly. Very hush hush.
Christian J. Long

Default Christain... do you know what town this "area 51" might be in?

If you can give me a city or town or maybe county? Maybe some of my contacts in the local constabulary might be able to direct you to the right warehouse...
J.R.S.

Default Re: What you saw was an Area 51 car.....

I have to agree there is and has been something in the area for years. I saw what I believed to be the TT (possibly VW, but looked like a camoflauged TT) back in late 97 many times runing up and down US41 in Hernando county. I saw Golf cabs. way before production, running on SR54 in groups of 6 or 8 cars. Back in the eighties I used to see Audi 80's testing late at night in St. Pete near the old SunWest Porsche Audi dealer. There must have been a dozen or more all running together in a tight group.
