times to upshift/downshift.
Any ideas or BTDT's?
I have warranty so could always just take to indy.

if ya drive ANYTHING enough, practice makes perfect.
no need to get it on redline each time, since that's NOT where peak power is made anyways unless up top, you tranmission will thank you too and it will respond with further smoothness.
Once over 65mph cruise i keep it in D and drive like a granny (the norm for me now) OR if in 5th gear, only provide enough power to avoid "super-slushbox-mode" (which you just gotta learn the pedal feel + car learns adaptation driving style for that)
Manual Downshifting = ROUGH if not within matched rev range (same for MT obviously). not necessary unless you think you'll need the rev's for whatever comes next, e.g. hill, 50-40 mph traffic, WOT in a 20mph School Zone =/, etc...
so i avoid "blipping" as much as possible. instead i focus on the brakes, daaarn cheaper to replace!
im slowly honing my training wheel skills to learn 6MT..slowly. (pardon my noobness) but i crave a 3rd pedal now.
(just my perspective on the 00032 + GIAC combo which is also what you have i see) regardless, 3rd pedal is the way to go...next car hopefully! too bad the new AMG's dont have an MT option. boo.

Which is especially valuable if you've increased the amount of TQ the engine produces. And FWIW, your 2.7T would have had a 6-speed, not a 5-speed. The only A6's with 5-speeds were 2.8's.
