Default Am I Picky or this is just one of the MANY BAD AUDI Service Departments

I may be visiting an old subject but I think it relates to our very negative experience with AOA, AUDI dealers and their bottom of the barrel service departments. I guess like everyone else, I have received the Gas Gauge recall on July 12, 00. I have called Jack Daniels, NJ on August 10 asking for an appointment. I was given September 15, 00 as the only available appointment! I kept on waiting till Sept. 11, called to confirm my appointment, and was given confirmation. Friday September 15 around 11:00 AM I have received a phone call from their Service Manager telling me that they don't have any more sending units, talk about coordination, and blamed AUDI for not sending enough parts and gave me October 30 as the next available appointment and basically and I am quoting "live with it". After I hang up with him, I was fuming and called AOA customer service complaining, they told me that they will locate a unit and send it overnight to the dealer. This unit will have my name on it and will not be allocated to anyone else but me. So, I am waiting for this call. Am I wrong to be frustrated at this kind of service especially in a 40K car.

Default Ho humm... *yawn*

The service you're getting is what I have come to expect from any and all Audi dealer(s)... and yes, it is completely unacceptable... I have been convinced that Audi dealers offer the worst service of any dealers as a whole, from my experiences and also reading hundreds of others (some worse) here...

I hope they actually do what they say and you get your fuel sending unit replaced in a timely manner (this time).

Default Well, look at Audi's explosive growth...

They went from 10,000 cars a year to 3500 a MONTH in one swell foop.

Face it, Audi is a sceond line (or third, or fifth) for most dealers. Now that they are selling like hotcakes (Geee Martha, the stock options matured, lets buy German cars instead of Buicks this time) the dealers are overwhelmed.

Couple this with a tight labor market, and you have a hard time finding people who will turn wrenches who actually know what the hell they are doing. As soon as you learn a skill, you jump ship and get a better job in the computer business right? No different in mechanixville. Who wants to sweat their *** off in a 120 degree service bay, while we sit at our computers all fat and lazy in the air conditioning and bitch that the temp indoors is 72 instead of 74 like we like it.

I am not defending the poor service. No way. But for years Audi suffered a token presence in the US at best. More A8s were sold last year than all of Audi's models together during the dark ages. So, surprise, surprise, 12.5 million cars were sold in the US last year, and they are all under warranty and all in need of the free service. Cram them in besides all of the Toyotas and Jaguars. Get them done as fast as possible, but damn, the factory isn't making enough parts, and they are half a world away and the shipping container isn't full yet, so they can't ship it yet.

Don't stop expecting more, but before you **** in the wind at not getting your free wiper blades (cost: $2.oo at PepBoys) maybe you should ask yourself to live their life for a day and see. None of the poor saps working at the service bay can even THINK of buying a $40k car. Yet they work on them every day for their pay. Maybe give them a break?
99.5 1.8Tqms Laser Red

Default Not likely, they have us cuffed!!

Can't even use ... tables!! And they don't allow more than one linked image in a sig file, so I'm left without my registry links, or only plain... ugly text, that can't even be sized!! [grumble][grumble]
