Default Another CV boot question

Does anyone know how much it'll cost to replace a front left CV boot at an Audi dealership?

Thanks.

Is your car under the Audi assured warranty? My service advisor told me that CV boots are not covered by the Audi assured warranty. The charged me 2 hours of labour plus the CV boot kit. Is this reasonable?

Default Strange....

Mine is a CPO still under the original warranty. When they resurfaced the rotors they noticed a torn driver's side CV boot and replaced it n/c.

I think that explains it - you're still covered under the original 4 year/50k miles warranty right? If you are, then the CV boot was replaced under that warranty and not the Audi Assured (CPO) warranty. This is what my service advisor told me.

Default Are you sure the CV boot isn't covered under the CPO warrant?

I don't know for sure but CV boots should be covered and you should only pay the $50 deductible BUT maybe a CV boot is considered a normal wear and tear item which isn't covered. I'm sure someone has a definite answer.

Yes, my service advisor said that CV boots are considered as wear and tear. I've search the forums and it seems like CV boots used to be covered, but not anymore. However, I don't seem to be able to get a definite answer because it seems the Audi Assured warranty is not very consistent - some people get some things covered, but some people don't get the same things covered.

I really hope Audi can somehow standardize and make it clear to the dealerships what is covered and not covered under the Audi Assured warranty.

Default "Normal wear and tear"

I think this term is badly misused in auto industry. To me, things that are wear and tear items are meant to be replaced at certain intervals, like spark plugs and timing belts. If a CV boot is a wear and tear item, what is the maintenance interval?

Default Recommend replacing both

It's recommended to change the inner boot along with the outer. Been driving Audi's since '75 and I always replace my own, but if your paying for it, get both on the half shaft done together.
