Another example of cheapening up the 03 4.2..

If so, it's barely so, and the rest of the improvements are genuinely worthy...I'm liking it a lot!
The images might be slightly softer, but do respond well to software sharpening (plus there's a greater range of in-camera adjustments to change this). I'm a bit worried that night shots might not be as clean, but will fiddle with it while on vacation in two weeks.

The 10D's faster focussing is what intrigues me, as well as the lower price!
Do you mind if I ask about what your D60 sold for? The prices on ebay are at or above the price of a new 10D body.

The information from these sources is more likely to be misleading than helpful.
Needing pro lenses to achieve the same sharpness is an incredibly stupid, misinformed and off-base thing to say. Really an incredible statement.
Canon actually says that the image quality should be improved - and as far as the low-noise (artifacts) issues go, it is better. One of the question marks is that the CMOS sensors are now being manufactured at a new plant (one that has the ability to crank them out in quantity to satisfy the demand...the D60 never did meet the huge demand it was receiving) and that perhaps a few other parts have been oh-so-slightly modified. Of particular interest is the <a href="http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos10d/page8.asp" target="_blank">"low pass filter"</a> (see bottom of the linked page) and whether or not any changes were made to it...
Read through the <a href="http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos10d/" target="_blank">DPReview</a> again while looking for the green "notable improvement" comments. From my experiences thus far, everything in that review is accurate. <a href="http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/10d.html" target="_blank">Steve's Digicams</a> reviews are also nicely done, and there have been several recent articles on the 10D at <a href="http://www.photo.net/" target="_blank">photo.net</a>.
BTW, the low-light focusing is <I>hugely</I> improved.
E-mail me for the other specifics that you asked about.
