Default Any benefit to Audi OEM brake pads vs. ones without the pad wear sensor?

My front brakes need to be replaced and unlike my rear, the brake pad wear sensor appears to be active for these brakes because the wear sensor went on at about the same time my indy told me I need new brakes. I'm a recent college grad on a very limited budget so is there any advantage to getting the OEM pads rather than having my indy get good pads (he's my cousin so I have faith in his decisions) and just cutting the sensor wire as the rear brakes are?

Default If you're diligent with checking your brakes regularly..

There's no need to have pads with wear sensors.

There are however LOTS of pads out there with the wear sensors already attached. So there's no reason to have to select pads without them as you've got a ton of options available to you for pads with them.

Default There are no sensors in the rear brake pads.

And if you cut the wires the light will be on all the time. Just buy the right pads.

If you go sans the sensor, make sure you have the sensor wires disabled to avoid the brake light.

Correct re: rear pads. But if you twist the wires together, the light goes out...

Plenty of indy pads have the wear sensor wires, eg PBR

Default Some places sell a plug that turns out the light, for use with pads without wires.

ECS has them. No need to damage the wiring!
