I was thinking of buying one in May and was wondering if I should just wait till 2001?? I should get more bargaining power if I get a 2000 model. Conversly, will I get quite a bit more resale value for a 2001 model. Also if there will be any minor facelift or anything.
thanks

Probably there will be changes, but none are known yet. Audi has already rolled out changes in the 2000 model, so they don't seem to put too much stock in waiting for an arbitrary time of the year to make changes.
Unless you are looking for an Avant, I'd just get one when you are ready.

Hi
I asked my dealer the same question before I bought my 4.2 Quattro. He confirmed that there is no known modification in the pipeline - with the exception of a V12 engine to be introduced sometime this year...

There will be only minor changes to the A6 - we won't know until Sept/Oct. The S6 arrives in fall. The A6 2.7t Avant will come around then too.
The V12 is slated for the next A8 ( A12 ?). No plans for the A6 in that department. We had to graft the front stucture of the A8 onto the A6 4.2 just to get the V8 to fit !
As for the best price. Best or worst time is in Oct, when we get ready for the model changeover. Worst if you are fussy about what you want. There will little selection available. Best if you are not picky - just want a particular drivetrain combo.
Last year, Audi pulled 2500 A6s from planned delivery to N.A. in mid-summer. When the fall lease program went into effect ( Late Sept ), there were fewer cars than people expected. We ended up buying cars from other dealers early into the program. People were coming to us in Dec. and finding that there were no '99s left.
As always, contact your local ABS. Let them know that you are serious. Let them know you've been online but are not delusional ( so you don't waste time posturing ). The difference between years will only be a few hundred dollars.
The only other unknown factor is WHETHER Audi will once again offer an incentive at the end of the year. Given all the positive attention that Audi is receiving from the press, expect inducements to be reduced or discontinued.
The car is an excellent value without incentives. Check out what you pay the equivelent BMW. Yes, each have their strengths. Ours is quality interiors, truly innovative engineering, imaginative styling, and VALUE, VALUE, VALUE !!!
